Having grandkids is God's way of giving you a 2nd chance because you were too busy working your butt off the 1st time around

If it's still listed in Add/Remove Programs, go ahead and remove it again. Then download the Windows Installer Cleanup Utility from Microsoft. Open it up and check any boxes that refer to the program and run it. Then redownload the program. Select "download to the Desktop" When that's complete close all of the applications running on your computer. Then open the icon on your Desktop and let it run

http://www.superantispyware.com/definitions.html
I manually install updates on both my windows machines, as neither are connected to the internet.
Just follow the instructions at the link above, it's easy.

If you would like to manually update your definitions simply exit SUPERAntiSpyware, then click the "Download" links above and copy the files to your Application Data\SUPERAntiSpyware.com\SUPERAntiSpyware folder, unzip them, and restart SUPERAntiSpyware. To unzip files in Windows XP, simply right-click on the file and select the "Extract All..." option from the menu. To automatically update, simply click the "Check for Updates" button on the SUPERAntiSpyware main application screen.

"I now have on my desk top...two virus scans"
Do you mean you have two antivirus programs installed? If you do, uninstall one of them.
Having more than one can cause computer issues. There is no advantage to using more than one.
You also mention not having a firewall. Do you at least have the Windows firewall turned on?

I understand that but do9ng this the files have the same name as two dat files that are in the file so to do that you have to remove the old dat files and repalce them with the updated ones? right, thats the only way. And as far as two virus scans on my computer that was said in error. thanks

yes, the new updates replace the prosseslist, and the processlist related folders with the new updated folders. (If I understand correctly)
I should have mentioned that. My bad.
But I don't think Superantispyware alone, is enough protection. I would think that you would also need ONE virus scanner, and a firewall.
