Audio Trouble

playing movies and music, instriments and backrground sound fine but spoken work and vocals sound like ants, or a big emty room. Checked all equlizers and volumes can't figure it out! help plz!

what speaker set up do you have.do you have 5.1 or 2.1. if you have dolby surround 5.1 then your center speaker might not be properly connected.thats where the vocals come from mainly on dolby

I'm listing on sony headphones and crappy dollar store speakers.

and its the same with the headphones and the speakers or can you here the vocals with the headphones

Almost sounds like a phase canceling issue. I'm betting there is still some kind of setting that is doing this. What kind of sound card? Drivers installed and 3rd party software with it? What other audio applications are running in the system bar?
