Do any of you folks have experience using RPG Maker?
My (grown) son wants it for his birthday. |

This is probably a bit late, but since RPGMaker is no longer supported, has anybody considered xna game studio?

Does anybody have experience with the XNA software? (thx groovicius) |

I have almost none, but next fall I will be using it to teach middle-school aged children. All I know is that there is a pretty extensive support base, and that is about it.
QUOTE I think a new version of RPG MAker is out, Not that I have looked very hard, but as far as I know, the last releases was for RPG Maker XP, and that came out in 2006. I don't see that their web pages have even been updated since then. -------------------- |

Hello Master5270!
The latest version of RPG Maker software is RPG Maker VX. The latest _FREE_ version of RPG Maker, though, is RPG Maker 2003. Hope that helps ;) |

Just to update; I have been messing around with XNA for the past few days, and I am really enjoying it. The IDE is pretty sweet, and the video tutorials are awesome. If you have never programmed before, you will be lost. It does not discuss programming at all. If you have used anything like Java or C++, you will be ok.

They do a little programming, mostly just altering robot code for RoboCode, but it gives them a little bit of a look into what a program is. They do some HTML and CSS also, but I don't consider that programming per se. I want to alter what I did this year so that they get a little more coding experience.
