I note we have this thread

http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/topic80359.html

I also note we have varying numbers of blue blobs after our names plus varying comments such as 'new' 'senior member' and so forth;

may one ask how these blobs and descriptions are 'assigned' to each member?

Well the blue bobs depend on the post count. Here is how many posts you need to get the number of blue blobs;

1 Monitor - New Member = 0-14 posts
2 Monitors - Member = 15-149 posts
3 Monitors - Forum Regular = 150-349 posts
4 Monitors - Senior Member = 350-599 posts
5 Monitors - Distinguished Member = 600-999 posts
6 Monitors - Forum Addict = 1000 + posts (at this point, you can change Forum Addict to anything you want)

Posting in the Forum Games does not raise your post count.

Thanks to tg1911 for the following information smile.gif .

David.

And,

for reasons I'm not sure,

the "blue blobs" are called "pips".

I think they were invented by Charles Dickens.
Some people think they are little computer screens, others say they are rickyticky boxes that all look the same.

And to avoid copyright infringement, and avoid the wrath of Gladys Knight. We will lean towards, the "blue blobs" terminology. hysterical.gif hysterical.gif

Hello YourHighness,

A "pip" is a seed of a piece of citrus. For example, an orange seed and a lemon seed are both called "pips". I believe the dots on a die are also called "pips".

A "blob" is a small irregularly shaped spot of something. A blob of ink landed on my drawing. I have a blob of spaghetti sauce on my blouse.

I have no idea what a "rickyticky" is.

Methinks rickyticky means corny or outdated. Not to be confused with rickysticky bubblegum!!

Rikki-tikki-tavi, was the name of the mongoose in, The Jungle Books, Volume two by Rudyard Kipling.

QUOTE
He was a mongoose, rather like a little cat in his fur and his tail, but quite like a weasel in his head and his habits. His eyes and the end of his restless nose were pink; he could scratch himself anywhere he pleased, with any leg, front or back, that he chose to use; he could fluff up his tail till it looked like a bottle-brush, and his war-cry, as he scuttled through the long grass, was: ``Rikk-tikk-tikki-tikki-tchk!''

This is the common etymology, for Ricky Ticky, although it has little in common.

Sorry, I couldn't pass that one up, either!

Oh, BTW -

these little are "pip.gif" images.

It's not my fault, really.
