Welcome to the BC F@H team solaris32 and dirpnirptik

BTW dirpnirptik, if you want to try and get larger WU's go into the F@H Control Panel, then click on Connection and check the box that says "Allow receipt of work assignments and return of results greater than 5MB.......". Then click okay.

Thought todays Folding Fact was interesting..so I'd share it.
Folding fact #25
Genomics and hard drives: We have about a billion DNA bases in our genome. That's less than 1GB of storage! The genetic differences between humans and chimps is less than a million DNA bases -- small enough to easily fit on a 1.4MB floppy!

Please don't drop that floppy in transfer!

Or we'll all have to start over again?

Anyone know how to access your Hard Drives FAH files on a Live CD (giving up on the fixing Kubuntu just want to finish this unit out using PCLinuxOS Live CD). I can access the folder and start the program but it will not get past the configuration.

Hey Yano,

My current WU is also very slow.
It's Protein: p1171_p1164_RIBO_H2O_froz

It will finish today, so it'll be interesting to see if the next one works at a normal rate.

Anyone Else?

Well the other day I just setup another machine running F@H so I should be getting points faster now. Its a Pentium 4 1600MHz, 1Gb RAM so it'll run better than the Pentium II.

Had a chuckle when I read todays Folding Fact of the Day.

Folding fact #32
420 BC Socrates (470? - 399 BC), the Greek philosopher, speculated on why children don't always resemble their parents. He enjoyed remarking that the sons of great statesmen were usually lazy and good for nothing.

Yay! I have a wu that needs 5000 frames and I was on 3500, and guess what? I turned on my comp today and it's back at 9! I'm so happy I get to start this wu all over again with no hope of restoring my progress!

Yeah...I hate that. that happened to me on my sisters laptop so I stopped doing it on there cause it happened more than once. Would I would try doing is going to the settings of FAH and set the timer to the fastest time. I'm exactly sure what its called being I dont have a FAH client on hand, but I think you'll figure it out.

solaris32, did you have a look in your folding log file to find out why the WU stopped working?

Right click on the red gear icon, go to Status then Log File.
