Ok...

If we had let's say fifty (50)* 80-core machines doing work in a farm. The average value of a work value can vary anywhere between 1 and 500 at the most. The average is about 300. In 24 hours (average completion time) we could have 80 * 300 * 50 = 1,200,000 points.

Google generates about 40,000 in a 24 hours period. We would generate at a semi-predictable cycle. As long as point scoring remains the same. So we would be making 30 times what they would make in ONE day! :thumbsup:

So it would take us a whopping 38.5 days!

y1 = 40,000x1 + 467,307,000
y2 = 1,200,000x2 + 273,000

after doing the data tables for each of them (took me a few seconds using my TI-83) you they cross over between 38 and 39.

*I think this is the number of total computers our team has.

EDIT: Google has 162,210 users. ( http://kakaostats.com/t.php?filter=all&...mp;search_text= ) but only 374 are active.

Heck we could probably handle all of Google's processing power for their gigantic algorithm, that powers their search engine.

Right then, where do I start.

Ive got a dual core t2300,1Gb ram.

Downloaded the latest version 5.03

My WU end is 107 days from now.

I think Ive correcly managed to set it at 100% cpu usage, but when I sit back and watch task manager it only seems to be using 50%-70% max. Got more questions about teams and stuff, but I just want to know if you think ive set it up right.

Is 107 days about average for a WU?

Even though the program says it will take a long time, it will actually be shorter than that. The program probably benchmarked during a "slow time", and therefore figured that it would take a very long time.

Thank you very much.

I had installed it and run it straight away.

Ive just looked at it again and now it only says 2days and a few hours.

It must not have had the data it needed to make a good guess at how long it would take.

You have a dual core and F@H is using 100% of one = 50% of your total. All good. Glad to see you on board.

Cheers

No, Its using about 30-40% of each on.

But Ive sat back for about 10mins doing nothing just watching, not touching keyboard or mouse. Now and again it peaked at 90% for just a second, then dropped back down. No problem though, i guess i'm still doing my bit.

Does BC have a team? If so how do I join it?

Right click on the icon in the systray, click on CONFIGURE,/USER/enter your username and team 38444. Then go to the ADVANCED tab, and slide the checkpointing slider all the way to the left - this will save your work each 3 mins so you don't lose much if something goes wrong. If you have to turn your machine off, or reboot, right click the icon and press QUIT first. It will start up again automatically. (You don't have to do this but it is safer as it saves all the work done).

After working on WUs of 4000 or 5000 for months, both computers are now doing 250 frame ones which are taking significantly longer to complete.
Also, I am doing a Yano too. A new neighbour has moved in and bought a new Acer Vista machine, so I've hooked him up to my wireless network in exchange for him running another F@H for me. LOL.

The more the merrier. Cheers

Same scenario here Rob! Finally broke free of the 4000 cycle and got a 250. It's going at 12 mins/frame! :flowers:

Great to have you on the team bilko! :thumbsup:
