Congratulations Yanoo, this is wonderful!

Hmmm ... must admit, Boopme, that I have no idea if I have the "latest Direct X" or even the "lastest drivers for Video Card" on this computer - oops!

Must rummage around in our tuturial section until I find some references for these as, who knows, maybe if I find the applicable folders/files they'll tell me what version I have and even auto update if I ask - grin.

But nope, when it crashes, it literally goes nuts. No window warnings at all - first thing it does is (and I know this sounds very strange!), if I roll the wheel on the mouse, my web page changes from what I've just been looking at, to another page. All familiar sites I've been to, but still ever so strange. And then doom starts - whatever I click on on my open page will get huge, huge solid black lines across it - and then suddenly, frozen solid. (Even manually pushing the button on the tower itself doesn't work).

I did read what one's computer is supposed to be able to do (size ram, etc) prior to trying the first Folding download - but shall venture off tomorrow evening to find either the applicable tutorials and/or the programs themselves to check re updates.

Thanks once again! (Good thing my goal i

n life isn't to a computer tech, huh? :flowers: )

Never let your computer realize you are in a hurry or just typing the last few words of a vital document.

While outer events might make one happy or sad, happiness itself is entirely internal, and at all times completely within one's power.

Thanks so much for letting us know about this planned shut-down, DSTM!

And I've made a note to myself to not try downloading the simplified text version tomorrow, now - rather, will give it another try on Wednesday.

Thanks again.

Well Team, according to the F@h Forum Here, and my Logfile, everthing is back up and running again.
Expect another little shutdown on Thursday.

Don't think these are anything for us to be concerned about.
IMHO,They are making Folders aware of these shutdowns so they are not alarmed when noting it in the Logfile.

Hi TMack,I think you will find the Thursday Shutdown they refer to was for the 25th of January.
I appreciate any information that lets us know why something all of a sudden doesn't respond the same as normal.Little bits of information from our members sure helps things to run smoother.
I am 2/3 through the first unit, and glad you told me not to give up ,TMack.
I feel I am helping a great cause, and that makes everything worthwhile.

I had one 20000 frame one last week, but apparently I missed a deadline or something, because the one I'm working on now is 5000 frames. :flowers: What a bum trip. :trumpet:

Still exciting though!

Hi tink536,

Deadlines are usually 3-5 months after being assigned a new project.
To find out this info,Right click on the Folding Icon/Status/Left click on My Folding.
Then click on the link under "Current/Latest Unit"

But I wonder why your last work unit didn't finish?
Right click on the Folding Icon/Status/Left click on Log File.
Scroll down thru the log and see when then the new WU started .
Perhaps it will give you a clue as to why the other one didn't finish. (Did you shut down your system?)

I was given a 50000 frame first up,and getting through it.
As suggested,I press quit before shutting down and so far
haven't lost any Data.
On startup it starts auto so it's all quite easy so far.
Yes TMack,it will be satisfying to see my name on the member list.
