While experimenting with my PC I found why the tool tips sometimes go behind the taskbar. This is a common bug that many people experience. There is no fix for it, yet, so it can be annoying Regards, David. -------------------- |

I have had this problem before, there are two ways I have found to deal with it. the first is to hover over another icon then go back to theone you want. or the other way (if the problem is persistant) isto simply crash explorer.exe

It might have something to do with lock the taskbar settings, or the autohid feature.

Not a very elegant solution - but it's the "official" way

I find just hitting the "Show Desktop" Icon restores the tooltips to the foreground.

Tooltips for some taskbar icons are hidden behind the taskbar on a Windows XP-based computer http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=912650&SD=tech Logging off and back on fixes it for me. I'm glad to know not to reboot, though it's not really a problem; it's not like I don't know what my icons are anyway. I find just hitting the "Show Desktop" Icon restores the tooltips to the foreground. The "Show Desktop" method had no effect on my computer. |

Try this handy, no-install app with a single purpose: Tooltip fixes:
http://www.4shared.com/file/15146928/e7e35...ToolTipFix.html I configured it for my 82 year old Mom, and it does the trick in one click from Quick Launch. Easy. -------------------- Neurons that fire together, wire together.

I looked at several of the fixes out there and ended up getting a little program called Tool Tip Manager (http://tooltipmanager.com) that will take care of that problem. I went with that one because it works perfectly, is automatic, and does not require a separate process running all the time. Oh, and it lets you change the font, colors, and auto-hide time-out.
I hope this helps. Jasen |

Thanks for that and
You contributed already on your first post, well done I still think it would be better if Microsoft came out with some sort of fix which can be accessed via Microsoft Update. (Come to think of it, what is the chance they have made this fix and it is in Service Pack 3? We just have to wait and see but I doubt it very much David This post has been edited by david28: May 2 2008, 07:47 PM -------------------- |
