Important Announcement: We have two terrific contests running on the site that I wanted all our members and guests to know about.

The first contest is the HP Magic Giveaway, which is underway as of November 28th. More information can be found at this topic, which will be updated very soon with further information.

The second contests, is for the chance to win two Seagate FreeAgent external hard drives. More information about this contest can be found here.

What is the default value of the bootexecute in Windows Vista (HKLM/SYSTEM/HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet/HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager --- BootExecute)????
I checked my XP pc and the BootExecute value is set to autocheck autochk /k:C /k:D *. But with my other pc (Vista), the BootExecute contains strange entries like ??//\? =/??. Do I need to change it to its default value even if I am not experiencing any problems with starting up/ booting my laptop?? Thanks in advance!!!

IMO it's "If it ain't broke, don't fix it!"

But, to further confuse the issue, both my 64 bit Vista and my 32 bit VM of Vista list autocheck autochk *
