Hello shawn1,
Personally, I wouldn't trust Limeware. Being a P2P site, it is a hotbed for the big, bad, wolves to lay in wait with malicious stuff to infect your computer, and it is likely that Limeware is not sending you to the proper Java installation site. That said, it is important to have the latest Java installation; therefore, I have pasted in the directions for removing old Java versions and getting the newest below. The latest version for Java at this time is version 6 update 5 Older versions have vulnerabilities that malicious sites can use to exploit and infect your system. Please follow these steps to remove older version Java components and update:

Hey Guys,
I'm having a similar problem installing Java on a friends computer. I followed the canned speech instructions for updating Java, but when I double click on the Java instalation file I get a similar failure notice as shawn1. The notice says something like: Make sure the file exists and/or that you have access to the file. My friends computer stats: Dial-up Internet connection. Don't think that she uses a Proxy Server (how do i tell?) Dell Dimension DE051 Intel® Celeron® CPU 2.53GHz 512 MB of RAM C: Drive has 62GB free Space Windows XP Home Edition Version 2002 Service Pack 2 I downloaded Java from the site linked to in the Canned Speech. The download took place while Windows was downloading updates, not sure if this corrupted the Java file or not. I'm only here (Maine) until tomorrow morning, so any help would be greatly appreciated. -------------------- All Other Things Being Equal, The Simplest Solution Is The Best.

You can get the latest java from http://www.java.com/en/download/index.jsp
The runtime environment is on update 7 not 5. I imagine that the error is caused because sun micro systems uses a download manager. -------------------- Regards
