Sorry, but I've been very busy recently. My experience with permissions is limited but I usually find that if there's a corruption of the permissions that extends beyond the simple expedient of taking ownership - I prefer to do a repair/clean install of Windows to fix everything at once.
It seems to me that if the system is messed up enough to hose enough permissions to stop an account from loading, then there's a good chance that this is not the only problem with the system.

I had the same problem with my Compaq... on my Admin account! I just unclicked UAC & will do a reboot so we shall see what happens...
