I have bought a new computer which came with Vista. My daughter's computer has Windows Me as its operating system. Can I replace her Windows Me O/S with my now surplus XP (OEM) and if so, how do I do it?

First you must determine whether or not the system you have meets the requirements for XP
XP system requirements
Don't believe what they say for RAM. You'll need at least 256mb and better off with 512mb

LOL XP on 64mb of RAM!? I'd like to see it go!
But seriously if you leave bits out or even get tiny XP you can run at a bearable pace on 64mb.
Most ME PCs should have a CPU, HD, Video adapter etc. that can take XP.

many entry level ME computers only had 8-16 megs of memory for video, that was a disaster with windows xp unless you
run the best performance option

For DVD video playback:

• DVD drive and DVD decoder card or DVD decoder software

• 8 MB of video RAM
