I recently posted a question as to why Drive C lost so much free space. I recieved the solution from member, Pivopija. He suggested merely to turn off system restore, re-start the computer and turn it back on. Drive C went from 76.7 GB, up to 91.5 GB. The total space is only 103 GB. A real success story for me, as I have a long history of using a computer with VERY little free space at all. Thanks again to Pivopija, and of course bleeping computer!

You can also reduce the amount of space used by System Restore.

Right-click My Computer.
Select Properties, and click the System Restore tab.
Under Disk space usage, you can drag the slider to the left, to reduce the amount of harddrive space used for System Restore.
Set it to what you feel comfortable with.
Click Apply.
Click OK.

I have mine set to 4% (1512 MB), and have 2 months of restore points.
This is with a 40 GB harddrive.
