I'm thinking of using it mostly for gaming and some graphics work. I would like some 64 bit version of something so I can upgrade to more RAM than 4gb eventually. I'm also planning to dual boot fedora linux, along with maybe XP. I'd just like some input on if you think i need to change something or whatever. Its probably going to be 1400$ after shipping and all.

yeah, I kinda knew that power supply was a bit on the weak side.

Why would a single 8800GT beat two 9600GTs in SLI? Someone said its build on like the 9200 manufacturing process, where the 8800 series was build on like a 9400 process...

the math is a little tricky. I do this stuff in my head, we used sliderules back in college

compare the 8600 to the 8800, half the performance

now the 9600 is claimed to be 40% faster than the 8600, add that still way behind the 8800GT

put 2 of your 9600's together you'll be lucky to get 25% better than 1

buy one 8800gt now add another later if needed

or wait for the 9800's to come out

Or, more like just get a 8800GTS, which would be cheaper than the two 9600s, and wait until I want to upgrade to get another 8800GTS to SLI? It would cost more in the end, but it would be spread out. I could also spread some of that cash to the power supply, but I don't like spending a ton of money on a power supply, just because it doesn't seem quite right. I know you need to be sure you've got a good quality one, and quite a bit of power, but it doesn't seem like you should have to spend that much on it.

Alright, I'll keep all of those in mind when I start building. It might be a while until I go for a build though, because I would like to see if some prices drop, or I have maybe a bit extra cash to just get better stuff than that.
