I recently had a HDD failure which was dealt with in an earlier thread. I am now in the process of replacing the HDD and was wondering if there were anysteps besides installing? i.e. do I need to fomat it or anything of that nature before intsalling the OS?

No. The OS Installation should take care of that for you.

All have to do is make sure the jumper on the HD is in the right place.
