Yep, next goal: 2,000,000! That will be a while, but in the mean time a smaller goal would be to hit 5,000 Work Units or get placed in the top 1,000! smile.gif

I'm not sure as I've not measured my computers' daily usage. (I don't have an inline meter.)

But it's not much more than a dollar a day running two systems 24/7. I do have relatively inexpensive electric services. My place is 100% electric also - heat, AC, and low wattage appliances & lights.

That's not bad, my grandma claims there was a huge jump in here bill when I got the PS3, so I've been paying my share for the electricity bill.

Yano will run over 250,000 this week. Congrats!

That might just carry the BC team to the 1,000th ranking.

Fold On!

Yea I just passed the other day. Next milestone for me is the 500,000 mark. Which according to Kakaostats, will be March of 2009.

Next milestone for BC: 2,000,000 = in about 270 days. smile.gif

Well done all - FOLD ON thumbup.gif thumbup.gif thumbup.gif

You're going particularly well at the moment, KY.

I am barrelling through the WUs, but they have all been small point ones for quite a while. Had a visit from my 21yo this week and mentioned that I was thinking of getting a PS3. His eyes lit up but I didn't tell him it would be just sitting there, Folding - didn't want to see him break down and weep. LOL.

Cheers

I've noted that if I don't have the auto reporting, that I get penalized points no matter how quickly my systems fold a project. That's cr**!
I often have to reset, then resubmit a fold project because the servers are too busy?
I've only dedicated two systems to the folding project now. Makes no sense to me to use anymore.

Have "we" as folders overloaded their ability to process the results? It appears so to me.

Ok, I'm looking all over, but I can't find the answer. I recently got into this, thinking it would be a good cause. I would like folding@home to run as a screensaver only. A lot of times I leave my computer on just sitting there, and I figure it might as well be doing something. So I downloaded the graphical version for windows, and its working fine, but I don't know how to make it work as a screensaver. I go to configure and go to the display tab. From there I see a section that says screensaver, but it's all grayed out and I cannot click it. Can anyone help me out please? Thank you!

Vista is known to have a problem with F@H if it is installed in Program Files. I just run mine from separate folders in Documents.

The following is from the F@H Forum, so I don't know if it will help or not -

[bruce wrote:Version 5 was distributed long before Vista existed, so there are several features that may not work or may require some special tweaks to make work.

First, be sure you do NOT install in the default directory (which is in "/Program Files")

Second, look for interactions with the new Vista security features. Some people minimize the impact of these by disabling UAC or by selecting "Run as Administrator" in several different places or even installing in WinXP compatabilty mode, depending on the particular issue. The ideal combination of enabling programs (including FAH) to run as you intend them to vs. the new security features protecting you from unknown threats that WinXP cannot counter has not been found.

Third, the graphics in FAH is written in OpenGL and support for OpenGL varies between "pretty poor" and "adequate" I've found that Aero, with it's fancy transparency features, adds even more graphics issues. Switch to a different Theme or graphic feature settings.

Some of the Vista issues are being addressed with the V6 versions, as they show up in beta testing. Stanford tests the client in WinXP.]

"I found a fix to the problem. I simply right-clicked on the executable winFAH.exe, selected Properties and under the Compatibility tab set it to run in compatibility mode for Windows XP (SP2). That made the screensaver options available in the Configure panel. It now happily runs as screensaver.

I did not need to (re-)install it in compatibility mode or anything --only the executable needs to be configured to run in compatibility mode. It appears to run quite happily from the Program Files folder as well. All the Aero eye candy is enabled --it is not bothered by that. Performance appears fine with the standard ATi OpenGL drivers that come with my Radeon X1650Pro (catalyst driver package 7.11).

It does help to set the Windows screensaver to "none" in the Control Panel, otherwise there may be some visual artefacts. But otherwise FAH simply overrides the Windows screensaver setting."

Cheers

Glad it worked for you, Sterling14.

It disappoints me to see so many of our team no longer Folding regularly. If you are having any issues, please post them here or check out the FoldingForum, so that we can keep Team 38444 right up there.

Many thanks to those who keep on with the good work.

Cheers

I see that KY.

B#$@% Vista laptops. If I don't check them for a week, I quite often find that one or both have frozen for no apparent reason. And people can't understand why I reckon VISTA sux. LOL. I have been getting a swag of tiny 47 pointers lately, dunno why. Production has halved since I started running 6 CPUs five months ago.

Never mind, every little helps. Seriously thinking of getting a 120 GB PS3 next January - catch me then, LOL. That will give me a spare 40 GB drive I can hook up to the desktop and crack the magic TeraByte mark. Only 970 GB at the moment. crazy.gif . Trouble is I am running out of the alphabet, LOL.

Fold on team.

Cheers

Hello all!

I have been offline folding-wise for quite some time. Dad quit his job and we had to save on electricity smile.gif

But all is well now and I will be getting things setup.

I have a new job as well and will be getting access to approx. 10 machines with Core2Duos. I'm going to see if I can run the client on there smile.gif

Ensure you get written permission from the administrator or Boss before you set the F&H client on any system there at your new job.
You don't want to be held responsible for any problems.

Ten Core2Duos will turn out some serious WU's. Good luck.

Fold on Team.

Billy O'Neal - I just notice that you have two separate registrations with F&H.

http://kakaostats.com/usum.php?u=1313329

http://kakaostats.com/usum.php?u=1219407

You might want to sort this out with "Stanford"?
