Window Media Player Won't Play MPEG2 OR 4 Video's

Sure hope I'm putting this in the right thread,my son download video's from limewire and they won't play :thumbsup: it keeps telling me this.

I downloaded all the new updates and still it won't play it.I have no idea what to do now.
I believe its a Player 11 can't seem to find where it says the verions.
It won't play in Quick time either,just the sound plays in that one,but not in Player.

What are the video extensions?
mpeg, avi, etc.
