Hello all,

My friend recently purchased an HP Laptop with Vista Home Premium installed. I do not know all the specs, but he said when he booted up his PC it would go through POST and show the start up of Vista normally. Once it got to his desktop everything would be be black, no output. He still had input because the mouse cursor worked fine and hitting the caps lock key on the KB lit on/off. Now, when he powered the machine down the desktop would briefly show, and he saw on the botttom right "Java Script Plugin Error". He left the laptop alone and went back to it 2 days later and the desktop displayed in front of him as if nothing was wrong.

I told him to run a virus scan and he was FLOODED with spyware. Is this a known virus on vista? a problem with the OS?

Thank You!!

1) Get rid of the viruses here: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/forum103.html
2) If the black screen still persists (after the virus removal), try Startup Repair: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/tutorials/repair-windows-with-windows-startup-repair/
