No Signal To Monitor

My son is rebuilding. Don't have all part numbers handy at the moment. But as stated ,No signal to monitor is displayed . New MOBO ,ASUS...New NVidia 8800 card.
parts are compatible confirmed prior to purchase. Any ideas
EDIT also a new monitor

My first suspicion would be the monitor cable. Bent pin, break in the cable, or the wrong type of DVI pinout

Thanks, I've coonected to working system,thru existing (old cable) that shows no signal

You connected the new monitor to a an existing system and still no signal? Could be a native resolution problem, but that usually only occurs with a new system and an old monitor or vice versa. Your using a VGA cable?

Sorry, No I connected new system to other workng monitor ( my working system) and got the No Signal. Same as connecting New monitor to New system.

Lets assume the computer is not posting. Try checking that the MB is not shorting out on the case at any of the stand offs. Make sure all of the power connections are connected including the 4/8 pin CPU power connection, and PCI-E power connection if applicable. Is your power supply large enough to handle the new system? If all the connections are proper and there is no source of shorting try getting the computer to post with only the CPU, Ram, and video. If the MB has video on board try removing the Nvidia card and see if you can get anything.

Hey thanks for following up. I was just coming here ..
YES it's fixed,just now . I guess he (my son) was afraid I'd be really mad or something. But he had bent a pin and said he checked everything. Well this morning I said I'll start all over. There it was a slightly bent pin and the plug was not fully seating. :thumbsup:
