i have downloaded several films in divx format that i normally watch by hooking the laptop up to the LCD. a friend of mine wants me to put one of them onto a dvd-r so that he can watch it on his dvd player, but i haven't got a clue how i am going to do it. i have Win avi converter. but that doesn't recognise the file. i also have nero express, but lately that just comes up with a message saying it doesn't like my version of windows or somet. are there any free and easy to use programs that will convert a divx movie into a dvd?

you have to install the right codecs to encode your avi files like for example is K-lite codec pack. Then use dvd encoder program like VSO ConvertXtoDVD, Nero Vision and TMPGenc DVD Creator.

it is also important that you downloaded your film legally

If he has a dvd player capable of playing Divx files though you just need to burn them to a dvd and he can watch them.

I would normally just put half a season of a tv show on a dvd and watch it in my dvd player, very handy.
