For some reason since my daughter has brought her old laptop home and left it here we can no longer get Google or certain other sites to open on any of our computers. This is being a big pain as some sites we need. I can not figure it out. The sites open on my moms comp which is right next door to me.

Any help would be appreciated

Try changing your DNS settings on the router if you have one, or in the network properties. try open DNS.

AN idea/suggestion; if all the computers worked before the laptop came home have you checked out the lap top for infections? how does the lap top normally connect to the internet when away?

have you yet tried to have only ONE machine powered up and on line at a time to see if each separately WILL connect and behave?

The deal with the Acer (I am on now) The Built in wireless went out so we bouhgt her a new laptop. When she brought this home I turned it on and was able to get onto the net but really not sure how as the Built in is disconnected (per a PC shop here said anyways) But that is all I have done and now none of my comps, 1 desktop and 2 Laptops will open certain pages.

lets try this ; are you willing to let us know which sites will now not open for you?
I am not routered but have been noseying in
http://www.microsoft.com/athome/moredone/wirelesssetup.mspx

my guess is that somehow, sicne the other computer came home, you have clobberred something

so lets see if it is the sites themselves that are off line?

with what have you scanned the dauhter's comp for infections?

how is IT antivirus protected and how are each of the other computers protected?

Toshia Laptop Has Nortons and Macafee, running Vista

Hello marcscott,

The "IT" does look like an acronym doesn't it? I think that ruby1 was asking what antivirus program is installed on your daughter's computer and what antivirus programs are installed on the other computers. (Correct me if I'm wrong ruby1).

I would add to that question by asking what antispyware, antimalware, and firewall programs are installed on the different computers.

lets further clarify a few things ;

Toshia Laptop Has Nortons and Macafee

MY interpretation of that is that there are TWO antivirus programs running on it? is that correct?
if so , the lap top could well be infected

Using Lynksys G Router
who is your ISP and do you have an antivirus protection within your Router system ?

Don't know of an ANTIVIRUS with in my router system. Just installed AVG on all comps (uninstalled all other antivirus) and ran scan. Found nothing on any of them. (Full version of AVG not the free one)

Am on Roadrunner High speed Internet.
