Hi all

I have a advent laptop model 7068 runnin xp professional with service pack 2, I want to install a AVM PCMCIA A1 ISDN CARD.
When i insert the card windows identifies it as unknown hardware and searches for software/drivers, and eventually fails installation.

However if i put the same card into another laptop running xp home it is identified immediately and runs through the setup process.

I contacted the manufacturer of the card and they informed me that xp should recognise the card and install it.

Any advise would be appreciated

Regards

Ripoff.

Do you have your XP installation CD? If so, you can manually install the drivers for it. When you insert the device it should prompt you to install drivers, click on something like "Install drivers from a specific location", then on something like "Install drivers manually from a list" - that'll bring up the dialog with the devices listed by manufacturer - and you can install it that way.

This presumes that there's no other, underlying problem that may have caused the installation to fail (which is likely - because Windows should have recognized it on it's own).
