For some reason or another, for about a month now, the MIDI playback in my games have changed (and not for the better, unfortunately). Some notes don't hold for as long as they should anymore, as well as there are missing notes depending on the song. This problem is most obvious in the PC version of Final Fantasy VII and DOOM 2. Is there any way I can fix this so that I can get MIDI songs to play normally again?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Now that I think about it, this didn't happen until I've installed Final Fantasy VII about a month ago, and I think I remember being asked to install some kind of "filter" prior to finishing the installation, though I can't really remember what it was called though. Is there any way to fix this and get my MIDI to play normally again?
