I setup boundary firewall and hosts file to block the known IP addresses and connected up to internet to get kaspersky updates and superantispyware updates. Now I still have same connection attempts happening however running microsoft taskmonitor shows SVChost is active when requests happen Instead of calling itself firefox now it calls itself IEexplorer Kaspersky has started logging events like running process rundll32 was trying to inject new or modified exe paint.exe or excel.exe or running process explorer.exe attempt to load new or modified logon.scr I see these about 2 times a minute while opening explorer on a new folder or running task manager. I was trying to run hijack this but it fails saying that dll c:\windows\system32\msvbvm60.dll is not a valid windows image. Please check this against your install diskette. I have rescanned with Kaspersky with all settings at maximum. The first time it found pswtool.win32.mailpassview.a It did not remove it or tell me which file it was. Only indicated that it had found this riskware. I have scanned 2 time since and it is not being found. Here is the old hijackthis log I got the day I posted this. Maybe you can find omething in it i missed. Hello banzaibob,
I have moved your Topic that includes a HijackThis log here to the Misplaced HJT Logs forum. You posted your log in a forum not intended for HijackThis logs analysis and probably missed the directions we provide to those who require assistance. We can only allow topics with such logs in the HijackThis Logs and Malware Removal forum. This restriction is to ensure you get the best help available, from those who specialize in malware analysis and removal. It also should prevent you from receiving ineffective or even potentially dangerous advice, whether well meaning or not. Prior to posting a HJT log, we ask that you please read and follow all instructions in the pinned topic titled Preparation Guide For Use Before Posting A Hijackthis Log. Following the steps in this Guide will allow the HJT Team to quickly help you with specific fixes for what may remain on your system. Please complete all the steps in the Guide. If you have performed some of them already, then just continue with the next. If you can't perform a step, then skip it and continue with the next. The last step will include downloading and using the most current version of HijackThis if the first line of your log does not appear as follows: Logfile of Trend Micro HijackThis v2.0.2 Please note that it is important that HijackThis be run and a log created while in normal mode. If you run it and create your log while in safe mode, you will be asked to redo it again properly. When you have completed those steps, start a new topic in the HijackThis Logs and Malware Removal forum as directed in the Guide to post a new log. Please DO NOT post any more logs to this topic, or post a log again in the wrong forum. This Misplaced HJT Logs forum is strictly a holding area where the BC Staff can assist you with preparations for and to properly post your log. If you have a question or encounter a problem in the Prep Guide, please do post back to this topic; that is what it is here for. When your new HJT log is posted in the proper forum, please reply to this topic with a link to your new topic. Once that is done, a Member of the HJT Team will analyze your log and assist you with step by step instructions to clean your computer or otherwise advise what needs to be done. Thanks for your cooperation and good luck. The BC Staff/TMacK -------------------- ![]() Join Bleeping Computers Folding@home Team and Help find a cure. Now that your log is properly posted, you should NOT make further changes to your computer (install/uninstall programs, use special fix tools, delete files, edit the registry, etc) unless advised by a HJT Team member, nor should you continue to ask for help elsewhere. Doing so can result in system changes which may not show it the log you already posted. Further, any modifications you make on your own may cause confusion for the helper assisting you and could complicate the malware removal process which would extend the time it takes to clean your computer.
From this point on the HJT Team should be the only members that you take advice from, until they have verified your log as clean. Please be patient. It may take a while to get a response because the HJT Team members are very busy working logs posted before yours. They are volunteers who will help you out as soon as possible. Once you have made your post and are waiting, please DO NOT make another reply until it has been responded to by a member of the HJT Team. Generally the staff checks the forum for postings that have 0 replies as this makes it easier for them to identify those who have not been helped. If you post another response there will be 1 reply. A team member, looking for a new log to work may assume another HJT Team member is already assisting you and not open the thread to respond. If after 5 days you still have received no response, then post a link to your HJT log in the thread titled "Haven't Had A Reply In Five Days?". To avoid confusion, I am closing this topic. -------------------- "In a world where you can be anything, be yourself." ~ unknown
