BleepingComputer.com: Device Connecting/reconnecting

Hi there,

I'm having some problems with my laptop and was hoping someone could advise me.

For a few months my computer has bleeped occasionally to indicate the a device has been connected and then reconnected. This happens when there is nothing plugged into the usb ports.

This evening it's been doing it constantly and then I got the BSoD and it was the lvmvdrv.sys that was causing the problem. I've disabled the driver for the on board orbicam but I'm continuing to have problems. I get the connecting/disconnecting beeping when I lower the laptop screen then raise it again so I'm assuming it's some sort of hardware issue. Has anyone ever had similar problems?

I've tried a plug n play monitor and have the following log:

This beep may be the computer going on and coming off of battery power. When you are opening and closing the lid do you mean all the way closed or just moving it back and forth? As for the power check and make sure the power cord is not loose at the back of the laptop or at the brick or wall outlet.

Thanks for getting back to me. It happens why I just move the screen slightly forwards and backwards, not when I close it the whole way. It happens both when it is plugged in and when it is running off battery power.

The webcam is built into the screen bezel, correct? You either have a loose connection or damaged wires internally

I'll have to open it up and have a look then

Try disabling the webcam and see if that clears it up. If you do take it apart and the wire's kinked but looks OK, you have to remember that it's such a small gauge the wire inside the insulation can be broke but the insulation still intact

I did disable the webcam but I'm still having problems. I never use it anyway.

Even if its disabled it could still be reconnecting and disconnecting.
