I had to do the system recover disk last night after trying to setup an ipod nano. I don't know what happened but my computer wouldn't do anything. After the recovery, everything was fine until today I noticed I have no sound. I went to the sounds, device tab and it says I have no sound device at all! I did do the backup on the recovery but I don't know where to look for a sound hardware.
My computer is a gateway and I have window xp.
If I try to watch a video with sound it says unable to locate file SFIDLOCK.dll???

Gateway what (model number, please)?

In any case, you can go to the Gateway website and download the audio drivers for your system, if you put in the right info.

scroll down to Sound Downloads and choose: 9536675.exe - SigmaTel Audio Driver version: 5.10.5208

which seems to be the latest driver.
