All of a sudden when loading my QuickBooks Pro 2003 program, a message box appears entitled "Searching" and then shows a percent of completion with, "Hit ESC to cancel." Then another message box appears entitled "Working," shows a percent of completion with, "Hit ESC to cancel."

If both boxes are allowed to load, it takes a long time to load the program. If, however, I hit the ESC button, click in a white area, and then the ESC to stop the second box, the program loads naturally and is ready to run.

I sure would appreciate any "read" on this problem.

Thanks in advance

Simplest thing to do , if you still have the CD is to uninstall/reinstall it

Thanks! That is the way that I was leaning, but I just needed to hear from someone else.

Mark,

I uninstalled and then installed again. That did not take care of the problem. What I did discover is that there are two companies in the program with the same name. I have put the information in a new post entitled "How to delete a company." It deals with a hidden company.
