I have been assured that LUPLET.exe is NOT malware, but I don't know what it is. It is not in the Startup Database and I cant find anything about it on Google. Anyone got any ideas?
PS There is a slim chance it could be something to do with Sysinternals though nothing is mentioned on their site either.

If google has no idea, probably no one has any idea! I am not a Malware expert, well very far from it... but I am wondering where you've seen the file? Why do you suspect sysinternals?

If it was me, I would treat the file as 'innocent until proven guilty'!

According to SpybotSD, luplet.exe is safe. Just search for "luplet"
http://forums.spybot.info/showthread.php?t=23396&page=5
And I for one, being a very paranoid person, would think a file is "guilty until proven innocent." Not being careful might result in worse results.
Hope that helps!

The origin of myths is explained in this way." - Bertrand Russell

It appears as a service shown by HijackThis that attempts to start on my system.
Though it doesn't mention sysinternals I remembered seeing sysinternals mentioned for this somewhere before but can't remember where or why.

I am suspicious because my system is having problems (discussed in another thread) and I don't recall seeing LUPLET.exe before I had the problems.

As said though my system has been given the all-clear of malware, but I still have a problem and still don't know what this service is?????
I am tempted to just remove its entry and see what happens but would rather know before if poss.

Thanks for the offer. Unfortunately I searched my system and could not find the file anywhere. HJT now says "(file missing)" after the entry. Formerly the file was in "C:\Documents and Settings\myusername\Local Settings\temp\" so I guess I could have removed it when cleaning my temp files or maybe my anti-virus got it, or did it morph into a different filename?

I guess we will never know what it was.

Thanks for your efforts anyway, sorry to waste your time.
