I have a newer toshiba laptop running Vista - I used up my free subscription to McAfee and uninstalled it. I downloaded AVG free and tried to install it. I got an error message saying it wasn't recommended to have more than one anti-virus/security program installed. Does anyone have a suggestion on what to try ???

Did you try to restart your computer after you uninstall the program? I did that and it worked on my desktop.

Try the McAfee removal tool (free here: http://service.mcafee.com/FAQDocument.aspx...083&lc=4105 )

Can you post a screen shot of the error message?
