Can you please tell us what the error message says? That will help us pinpoint the problem.

I would think that the problem would be either a problem with the Dr.Web application or with the download itself.
Have you scanned for the presence of an infection (which may have bypassed your protection)? Here's a couple of free, online scans to try: http://safety.live.com (requires IE) http://housecall.trendmicro.com If you do find an infection, I'd suggest posting here for more assistance: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/forum103.html If no infections are found, post back here for some more advice. -------------------- - John

Thanks for your reply. Yes, I have scanned using SAS and Spybot but nothing untoward has been detected. I tried removing Dr Web and reinstalling it to no avail.
It is particularly annoying because I use it on a regular basis. |

Dr. Web Anti-virus users should check with Dr.Web Customer Support Center. I can only find a couple reports of therse error message at other forums but no solution was given. The vendor needs to know so they can investigate and correct.

I tried to register with the Dr Web forums, but I've yet to receive a confirmatory email from them. I see from a previous post that the free scanner is no longer free and even though it is good, I'm not sure I'd want to pay for it.

Once I got my problem computer on the internet(had to install superantispyware from a usb drive and then scan and fix),
I could install the 30 day trial of drwebcureit, it like trojanhunter, is a good program and probably worth the money. A fully functional 30 day trial sure beats the heck out of panda's online scan that wanted me to pay 13$ for 6 months to fix 3 tracking cookies. -------------------- Chewy

QUOTE I could install the 30 day trial of drwebcureit... QUOTE Easy to use FREE curing utility to clean your computer...Dr.Web CureIt! detects and removes...When being scanned, infected files are cured, incurable files are moved to the quarantine directory. When the scanning is finished, the log file and the quarantine are not deleted.... http://www.freedrweb.com/cureit/I see no mention that Dr.WebCureIt is a 30 day trial. -------------------- "THE BAD GUYS DON'T NEED A SEARCH WARRANT.
