Outlook 2000 hangs when closed

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hi,

I have a Win XP Pro PC. Office 2000 Pro is installed. I have configured a Mail profile on this computer. We use .pst files (personal folder) for our email. I have tried uninstalling and then reinstalling Office 200 Pro, but when I close Outlook - the actual screen closes but Outlook does not close from the Processes tab in Task Manager for some reason. I have tried creating a new mail profile with the same .pst file, but that did not work either. I ran scanpst.exe to repair the PST file, but there were only some minor inconsistentcies. Outlook still hangs for some unknown reason. So, I went ahead and created a new .pst file and getting rid of the old .pst file, and again Outlook hangs when closed. At this point, I am thinking that it has something to do with Win XP Pro itself because I think I have exhausted all other options.

Below is what I was able to get from application log in Event Viewer:

Does anyone have any other ideas I can try to resolve this problem?

Thanks

Hi gilb,

You have already started at topic on this subject here: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/ind...=127673&hl=

Apologies that it hasn't been answered yet, could be that there is no one who knows an easy solution has seen it. I don't have an answer for you. But I am going to have to close this topic and the HijackThis log has been removed as it is against BC's policy to allow any logs to be posted outside of the HijackThis Logs and Malware Removal forum. This is for your own protection. Also HJT is not a general diagnostic tool so there is little useful information there to help with your problem. We use it now to detect and help in removal of malware. I don't see any signs of malware in your log and don't believe that is the source of your issue. However, malware is still possible, so if you have run antivirus and other security scanners that have given and indication there is some malware present, feel free to repost your log in the proper forum. But we require that you go thru this process first: Preparation Guide For Use Before Posting A Hijackthis Log

Sorry I can't help as I don't use Outlook. I'll notify the Advisors to have a look and will keep a copy of your log in case anyone thinks they may need it. With luck someone will come along with some ideas for you. Please stick to the original topic, this one is closed.
