Pci Express 2.0 Vid Card Do I need a 2.0 compatible slot?

Looking up video cards and came across the 8800 GT that I really like. I noticed that not only does it say it's PCI Express 2.0 compatible, but also x16. I'm not certain if my x16 slots are 2.0, but does that matter?

pci-e 1 video cards/slots are x16 vs 8x agp

the revision 2 supports higher bitrate but all this is backwardsly compatible, the older pci-e cards work in newer slots and vice versa

the performance difference of using revision 1 mobo with revision 2 card would be minimal

you are safe with that card as long as your computer has enough power and cooling
