I have a couple of albums that won't play in Winamp (or anything else). I get this message:
Windows Media Protected Content. In order to play this file, you must acquire a license, A website will launch to perform this process.
Proceed?

When I proceed, I get an error that it cannot find the URL. I opened Windows media player and tried to download a license. A website opens in IE7 saying:
A license has been downloaded to your computer. You may now use the file.
Then this pops up:
Error 438: Unknown error occurred when storing your license.

Anybody know how I can get these albums to play?

Thanks

If the files have been riddled with DRM, then there is not much hope in getting it to work. In my music folder do you have a licence folder?

I have one called license backups. Should I make a new folder called "License"?

I just made a license folder and tried the download again with the same results.

The licence backup folder should have the licences for the protected content on your system. If you right click the media file in question and select properties there should be a tab that will say if it is protected content, does the file say protected content? If so, it is riddled with DRM ad you will need to download a version that is not protected.

Yes it does say protected Content. I ripped them from commercial CD Albums. Luckily, I only have two albums like that.

Do you have the albums as in the physical CDs? What program did you use to copy the media?

I only have a CD copy of one of them. They are my son's and he's off at school right now. I can get them next time he comes home. I used Nero Smart Start.
The files are wma. Most of my music is mp3, but I don't think that matters.

Just recently, I've started using Media player. I'll try that if I can get my hands on those two albums again. Thanks a lot for the help.
