What layer of the TCP/IP model do IP addresses reside? The network layer. 6. Since IP is specific to the TCP/IP model, and the OSI model does not specify any particular protocol, what would an IP address be considered in the OSI model? a. Physical Address b. Logical Address c. Port Address d. Application Address 7. In problem #3, there are only 2 usable hosts per subnet. In what situation would only two hosts exists on a subnet? Explain your answer in 1 paragraph or more. This situation if used for very small businesses. The business would not need any additional resources or plans to grow. 8. You have just been hired as the new network engineer at a local company. One of your first responsibilities is to find out why the network is running slow and to correct it. There are 4 departments in the organization: Sales, Management, Tech Support, and Manufacturing. After reviewing the documentation for the network, you discover that a flat addressing scheme is being used – 10.0.0.0 255.0.0.0 – for over 1,300 hosts. With the flat addressing scheme, traffic from the Manufacturing department’s cutting equipment is interfering with the Tech Support traffic. Devise an addressing scheme to fit the organization where each department has its own sub network. Assume the following: Sales department has 300 hosts Management department has 275 hosts Tech Support department has 133 hosts |
