Alright, I have mass o' problems since a virus was removed from my computer. One of the most annoying, is that I can't play World of Warcraft any longer. I log on and two minutes later, the entire screen minimizes, and I get a super generic "Error" message that says nothing except 'Ok' to shut the message. >.>

I have tried resetting all my WoW files, still to no avail.

I have also downloaded the latest patch, and that wasn't a fix either.

ouch, you're paying quite a bit of money for it too...

I don't know exactly what it could be. How, or what program removed your virus?

Hello

It might be a good idea to note the times this happens then check the event viewer in the control panel under administrative tools for errors at the time WoW crashed.

I can run it again, and then look for the error message. I will post back here when I find it.

best bet would be reinstall your OP system.. either that or uninstall your video and audio drivers and reinstall them..

sounds like the virus killed either one

Thats a little extreme of a measure, but it probably would fix the problem. Most people cant just go buy another computer just becuase of one little error.

The virus may have caused damage to either drivers or the operating system. Try the drivers first, make sure thier all running properly

You ever tried a system restore? Are you sure it isn't a problem involving your connection to the WOW server(s)?

I would definitely do a reinstall of WoW. but I'd do a few other things before installing fresh.

1. Uninstall WoW.
2. Remove the directory the game was in completely.
3. Run a chkdsk on the hard disk where you had WoW installed and where you're going to install it, if different. If this is your Windows drive, it will involve a reboot and the actual chkdsk will run on restart. See if it fixes any errors.
4. Update your graphics driver, if you aren't using the latest version.
5. Install WoW.
6. Start it and let it patch 50 zillion times.
7. Does it run any better now?
