I have tried to do in myself, with the Add/Remove programs option.

I have tried to do it from the 'All Program' list by clicking on 'AVG 7.5' then selecting the 'Uninstall' option.

I have tried reinstalling the free software as AVG suggests, and it still won't uninstall.

They offer no tech support for people using the free software that they offer for free. >.>

Please, if anyone can help me remove this software, I'd be in your debt.

Hello,

Can you go into a little more detail about what happens when you try to remove AVG? do any error messages display themselves? also have you checked the event viewer? located in the control panel under administrative tools for more information on the problem.
Regards,

Alan.

Hello,

Are you logged on as the administrator on the system?
If you go to start run type msconfig go to the startup tab is AVG set to start with windows?
Go back to run and type services.msc can you see all the AVG components set to started?

Download the unlocker tool from http://ccollomb.free.fr/unlocker/ then navigate to the file causing the problems C:\Program Files\Grisoft\AVG7\avgw.exe. right click and select unlocker it will give you a list of files that are using avgw.exe, Dont tell it to unlock them all as it might crash your system can you list the files that are using it?
Regards,

Alan.

It is not listed under msconfig but it is listed under services.msc as started.

Should I try the unlocker tool then?

Its just to see what programs are using the file, It could be a simple case of not uninstaling because the file is being used by something else.

Alan.

C:\Program Files\Grisoft\AVG7\avgw.exe-I can't even find it to unlock it.

Okay, so what should I do to not be using it then?

Do I use the stop option under services.msc?

If you can't see the file, its either

1 hidden, in which case go to control panel and select folder options check display hidden files and folders and look again.
2 The file has been deleted which would explain a great many things.

I know you mentioned that you had tried to re install AVG, could you install the same version you have again, this should restore the problem file then restart and try the unlocker tool
If it wont let you remove AVG, then you can disable it completely so that it wont run at all, I'll talk you through that if you want.
Regards,

Alan.

Okay, so I found four files. No clue if they are the ones I needed to find.

AVG Control Center
AVG Test Center
AVG Virus Vault
AVG Uninstall

I right click on them, and can see the wand for the unlocker tool. Do I click on the unlocker, and if so, which one?

And no, the uninstall listed does not work. Still the same message.

I believe that the problem file is related to the test centre,

Okay, I right clicked it and then clicked the unlocker tool. It said 'No locking handle found'. Use unlocker to try and delete it?

Have you tried opening the AVG file and see if there's an uninstall folder?
