Are you trying to burn a disk, or install a program from a disk? Do you receive any error messages?
You could try cleaning the laser lens with one of those drive cleaning kits, or if it is a laptop carefully wipe the laser lens with a clean dry cloth and try again. -------------------- Stupidity has a knack of getting its way.

End of the line? It happens.
Usually, without strong signals of such as you may be receiving. Check Event Viewer for any errors regarding the drive in question, What is the Event Viewer, and Should I Care - Ask Leo! - http://ask-leo.com/what_is_the_event_viewe...uld_i_care.html Louis |

Your laser is probably finished. Don't bother repairing it, just buy a new one, they are fairly cheap these days.
