Right click on this Multimedia Audio Controller and select Properties, then click on the Details tab, then on Hardware ID in the dropdown box. You should see something like this: "PCI\VEN_4444&DEV_0016&SUBSYS_40090070&REV_01"
Copy it and paste it back here. -------------------- Christmas is a time when kids tell Santa what they want and adults pay for it. Deficits are when adults tell the government what they want and their kids pay for it.

Support (drivers, software) for this board can be found at the Intel website, http://www.intel.com/support/motherboards/desktop/D845PEBT2/
You need to click on drivers and download/install the sound/audio drivers. Update Those Drivers - http://www.cyberwalker.net/columns/aug00/310800.html Louis |

If you installed a physical sound card properly...and you still have no sound...you have issues with some other hardware item, assuming that you have configured all the sound controls properly.

Do you still have that unknown device in Device Manager?
If so, on occasion this will be caused by an missing Microsoft update. Try installing this update to see if it works for you: http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechS...=reg_R1002_USEN Once installed, check your Device Manager again - if the name of the unknown device has changed, then that was the cause of the issue. -------------------- - John
