Linksys Wireless G Range Extender (wre54g) If connection speed reduced to 22mbps, is it same as 1/2 bandwidth?

I am going to set up a Linksys Wireless G Range extender (wre54g) to extend the coverage of my Linksys router (wrt54gs). When I was reading a faq about it here http://forums.linksys.com/linksys/board/me...p;message.id=75, it said:

* The Range Expander will reduce the transmit rate in approximately half of the original rate. Meaning, when it detects a 54 Mbps connection with either a WAP54G, WRT54G or WRT54GS, it would only relay half of that transmission rate to wireless client that are connecting to it. In this case, wireless client would connect at a rate of only about 22 Mbps.


If the wireless client can connect only at a rate of 22 Mbps, does that mean that if my ISP plan is 4 Mbps down and 1 Mbps up, I will only get 2 Mbps down and 0.5 Mbps up?

Never mind. I set it up and it didn't cut my bandwidth in half. The cutting in half must be referring to something else. :thumbsup:

of course it wont ur 4 Mbits are less than the 22 Mbits, ur internet bandwith is way lower than ur wireless conenction bandwidth.
