it seems my 500gb external usb hard drive works perfectly on windows vista and ubuntu linux, but whenever i use it with my macbook on leopard, it is extremely unstable. I open it up in finder and occasionally it will freeze finder, i try to relaunch it and it just shuts down finder forever so that i have to hard-shutdown. When i try to copy files over to or from it, a transparent icon displays and nothing happens, then finder freezes again and the previous situation repeats.

i used to use transmission to download torrents directly to the external, and after some research discovered that some problems are correlated with this, so i started downloading just to my desktop, but still no solution.

I also did disk repair with the external.

Anyone have a solution? i just bought the external, i'd really like to use it!
