Adaware SE no longer supports win 98 ? and adaware 2007 is NOT compatible with Win 98se nor Win ME either (Might be useful/helpful to 'share experiences' with users OF win98se and ME computers of programs users are still able to run and ,more importantly ,update ON these platforms?) |

mvps.org is no longer recommending Spybot S&D due to poor testing results and no longer recommending Ad-Aware due to the ever increasing amount of problems. See here.

I quit using Ad Aware quite somme time ago in the field. Found it doesnt find anything and isnt worth running.
Spybot 1.4 works great. 1.5 is slow and buggy, NOT recommended! Anyone heard anything about what SuperAntiSpyware is going to do yet? I think that is one of the best |

Spybot 1.4 works great. 1.5 is slow and buggy, NOT recommended! I recently downloaded an update to 1.5 that has totally improved its load time. A full system scan still takes half an hour on my machine, but I have no problem with that. I do like Teatimer. (Actually, if I could have found a copy of v. 1.4, I would have installed that in the first place. Lost it when my previous computer died.) QUOTE Anyone heard anything about what SuperAntiSpyware is going to do yet? I think that is one of the best I like it too, but it takes about an hour and a half for a full scan. That, plus having to run it in safe mode are pretty inconvenient for me, since I also run two Folding@Home consoles. -------------------- |

Yes, I am. It's 1.5.1.17, and it loads very fast now. My recollection is that I had to click around a bit to find the download.

QUOTE What would you suggest to replace these two? SUPERAntiSpyware Free - [WIN 9x/ME/2000/XP/2003/Vista] The free version does not run in real-time mode...a purchased upgrade to the "Professional" version is required before this option can be activated. See SUPERAntiSpyware Free vs Pro Comparison Features. If your using the free version, use it as an on-demand scanner...no need to run at startup. -------------------- "THE BAD GUYS DON'T NEED A SEARCH WARRANT. ARE YOU PROTECTED?"

A Squared is also pretty good. I used it for a while until I found SuperAntiSpyware I ike it the best but it also takes the longest to run if yu do the full.
