Stats: Windows XP Home SP2, IE 6 (only used for Windows Updates and extremely occasional Office Updates), Firefox 1.0.0.11 for all regular browsing, OE for email.

I'm setting up a new laptop and want to tweak IE Internet Option settings to make it more secure. I was wondering about the setting under the Advanced Tab that reads:

Enable third party browser extensions (requires restart)

Right now, it is checked.

1. Is it better to have this checked or unchecked in my case?

2. Why does it require a restart?

3. Is there anything "unsafe/unsecure" about having it either checked or unchecked?

4. Any other opinions on what to tweak in regards to security on IE?

Thanks for the help!

Happy Holidays!

"Turning off third-party browser extensions will prevent some spyware programs from installing on your computer.
Note: Some legitimate toolbars (e.g., the Google, Yahoo, and eBay toolbars) may be disabled when you do this"

Having grandkids is God's way of giving you a 2nd chance because you were too busy working your butt off the 1st time around
