Hi, I was directed here from a post I made in the spyware warrior tech help forum. I've been having a problem where whenever I try to play audio or video, the computer slows to a crawl and whatever I'm playing skips in a completely unlistenable way. Oddly enough, if I play audio or video and leave the computer without opening applications or browser windows, the skipping doesn't start. But I'm not saying I was running tons of stuff at the same time, even having a single firefox window open while I play music is enough to slow it down immensely. And this has only recently become a problem, so it's not that the computer is just too slow.
Anyway, the people at spyware warrior saw a problem with my sound card at my DSS scan that they thought you could fix. They also told me to let you know I'm clean from malware. Here's the link: http://spywarewarrior.com/viewtopic.php?p=174100#174100
And here's my dss report:

Audio And Video Skip A Lot-but I'm Malware Clean

Helo,
the description you gave of your slow/skiping audio is very similar to the symptom I am have on my machine as well. I had this a while back and got frustrated when I was unable to correct it; everything kept getting worst (slower). I had an IT guy at work reformat the Cdrive and reload Windows the partition drive. It fixed the problem for a few months, now it s back....
I have an HP Pavillion a1020N and I keep getting an error message at start up as well, not sure if these are related... The message says something like hphmon06.exe unableto start missing some type of dll file. I remove the exe progrma from the start up as someone said it was none essensial??? no change in video/audia quality and speed of software...

Hi, I'm new at this, I would like to try and help you out if I can. I don't have alot of time to really look at your log file right now (I will soon though), However I did scan it over and I would like to give you some very basic advice. I think you should do all these things if you have not already:
1. disconnect from the internet
2. scan for malware again (after downloading new definitions.), if you find anything scan again, rinse and repeat until you cannot find anything at all.(no smart scan, "full scan.")
3. backup all files to a jumpdrive, dvd, cd, etc... (pics, music, docs, and redownload all installer files for programs which you have on your cpu that you got online. and only the ones that you plan on actually using.)
4. backup registry" click on run from start menu and type regedit, once there click on file, then click export, type the filename as "regedit (do not delete) MM/DD/YY", find a folder to put it in that you wont forget and wont bother you.
5. Ok, now that you have your backups you can feel pretty safe about deleting some stuff you may not need.
6. go to add or remove programs, delete everything that you dont use, dont need, or simply dont want. do not delete anything that you don't fully and confidently understand.
7. reboot and test. if that does not work for you than a number of problems could be wrong, which I will try to help you with soon.
Now I do have some suggestions
1. I hate kasperky and I would never ever use it. It locks everything down if you don't customize it properly, it sucks with games like say counterstike. and uses alot of memory on some cpu's (could be said about alot of antivirus though, especially all in one packs). My dad had it on his old inspirion 1100 running on 256mb of ram and it slowed everything on it down, when deleted problems stopped. but it could be worse, not saying you cant feel safe with it, you can. (I suggest trend micro or mcafee.)
2. try to update the soundcard driver and delete the old one if you do find an update.
3. clean out your hard drive(backup unused video and music in an external hardrive). Your logfile said something like 15gb of 98gb total is free. so your using more than half. Or think about getting new hardrive altogether, 700gb + on new egg for like $139.00 reg price.
4. go to start menu, all programs, accessories, system tools. in the system tools menu use the disk cleanup option, then use the defrag option.
5. the biggest problem I have with your log is that you have files from norton on your cpu, plus you have toolbars and other scanners from other antivirus on your cpu as well. I saw norton, avg, panda, and kasperky. You mainly use avg, so you should delete all the others immediatly. having more than one antivirius running will crash cpu, however it looks like just avg runs on starup from just a quick look at it. also having left over files from past antivirus isn't very good either. if you want to buy a good antivirus go with trend micro, they are the ones that made hijack this you know. and its good for cleaning the registry with the pro version. I used to run avg free, but now id rather use housecall, the free version of trend micro. but has no realtime protection.
ok well I gtg now but if it dont help any, then ill look it over again later. really though I have to cut this short (sorry =P) so goodluck!!!
