After a series of malware attacks, I finally gave in last weekend and reformatted my hard drive, reinstalled XP and office. When i went to import my backedup .pst file, Outlook asks for its password. I wasn't aware I had asigned it a password, but I guess I must have. I have tried all the passwords I would usually use, to no avail. Is there any utility to get the password from a .pst file. There are a lot of important emails in the .pst file I would hate to lose. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

It is against the policy of BleepingComputer to provide information on methods to reset or bypass the Administrator password. Though your question is most likely legitimate, there are others who may read this topic and use the information for less savory reasons. It is for these reasons we do not provide this type of information.

Although the usual reason is asking for the Admin password, we will apply the same thought and criteria for any password that is used on a computer.

If you have any questions, please feel free to send me a private message. Thank you for your understanding.
