BleepingComputer.com: How To Sell An Old Laptop?

I want to sell my Dell Inspiron E1705 (1.73 GHz, 1.99 GB of RAM, 17'' monitor) which I purchased in September of 2006. Some questions:

1. What is the most efficient way of restoring the computer to its factory settings so that when the buyer starts it up it is just like they are the first owner?

2. What is the best forum to sell it in? I was assuming eBay?

3. What other specs should I include in the listing?

4. How much should I expect to get for this laptop?

oh and feel free to add any advice you have.

1. Use the repair CD's that came with the came with the computer

2. Also craigslist and the local paper

3. Make and model , additional RAM, if installed People know how to look things up

4. You won't get what you think it's worth

Well as far as selling goes:

Ebay last

Local paper and craigslist first. People in the paper pay more and its also free to list on the craigslist and in some local papers like mine.

People on ebay dont usually pay as high and sometimes you get scammers who will run a laptop up to like 2000 bucks when its worth nothing and then want you to ship it to Nigeria.

Then list all the specs on it where ever you advertise.

Expect to get about 1/2 of what you paid for it a year ago. If you're very lucky.
Local sale is usually the best deal for most people - buyers & sellers.

You may not offer it for sale here on the Bleeping Computer forums.

Computers devalue even faster than cars. Take one out of the box and turn it on. It's now worth half* what you payed for it.
