My headphone jack has crapped out or broke in some way(?). Plugged my headphones in and noticed sound from one ear only, and as if the voice was coming from within a barrel. Pulling out and reseating several times made no defference and eventually worsened. Only when I discovered no sound out of the jack/headphones did I realize all SPEAKER sound is now out also.

I'm guessing the PC thinks there's something plugged into the jack, so the PC speakers are muted? (Or my hope at least).

Would be looking for help how to properly remove the laptop skins so I can investigate further.

Thanks

The audio jack and the DC Power jack are common problems with laptops with applying tension on the plug A solder joint could have possibly broke loose from the board. Is the plug loose in the outlet? Do you have another headset to try? I would take it to a local repair shop for an estimate (not a big box store) I find a right angle adapter
suchasthis help somewhat
