Whenever I open a folder, an internet page or file this message appears:

"Your computer was hijacked by Trojan.Win32.LinkReplacer. It is dangerous for your system, some files can be lost and your browser can be slow!

Click ok to download the antispyware program to clean your computer!(Recommended)

Please download ATF Cleaner by Atribune.
    Double-click ATF-Cleaner.exe to run the program.
    Under Main choose: Select All
    Click the Empty Selected button.
If you use Firefox browser
    Click Firefox at the top and choose: Select All
    Click the Empty Selected button.
    NOTE: If you would like to keep your saved passwords, please click No at the prompt.
If you use Opera browser
    Click Opera at the top and choose: Select All
    Click the Empty Selected button.
    NOTE: If you would like to keep your saved passwords, please click No at the prompt.
Click Exit on the Main menu to close the program.
For Technical Support, double-click the e-mail address located at the bottom of each menu.

Reconfigure Windows Vista to show hidden files:
To enable the viewing of Hidden files follow these steps:
Close all programs so that you are at your desktop.
Access Control Panel.
Click Folder Options.
After the new window appears select the View tab.
Put a checkmark in the checkbox labeled Display the contents of system folders.
Under the Hidden files and folders section select the radio button labeled Show hidden files and folders.
Remove the checkmark from the checkbox labeled Hide file extensions for known file types.
Remove the checkmark from the checkbox labeled Hide protected operating system files.
Press the Apply button and then the OK button and shutdown My Computer.

Now your computer is configured to show all hidden files.

1. With all other applications and Windows closed, open HijackThis, System Scan only. Checkmark these items:

Click "Fix checked" and when the log panel clears exit HijackThis.

2. Follow the instructions and download FixIEDef from here: http://www.malwareteks.com/FixIEDef.php

Tip of the hat to ShadowPuterDude for the little removal utility. :thumbsup:

Unzip the file to a folder, FixIEDef to your Desktop.
Open the new folder.
Right-click on FixIEDef.bat to run the application "As an Administrator".
It does call Regedit.exe to remove registry additions made by IE Defender.
so if asked approve the registry changes.

Reboot when it finishes. (It will only take a few moments to run).
Delete the original download, and delete the folder it created.

3. Post a brand new HijackThis log when finished.
