just wondering would it work if i connected two modems to the cable internet or does both modem have to be activated by the service provider?

and if this works, would the service provider detect this considering i only have one ip address provided to me. i kno' i can get a router to do all this, but this is just out of curiousity.

They would detect both modems as they have to be activated.
