This site has teamed up with software makers to offer a paid version of their product for one day only commencing at 8am GMT.

If you take advantage of an offer, find and use the activate.exe before installing and you will have a fully functioning version.

Appears to be safe and genuine and I have seen products retailing at up to $140 there, so could be worth a look.

I would be leery. Screensavers are notorious for installing "extras".

Totally agree, Groovicus. Anything which sounds "too good to be true" usually is, which is why I had a really good look before recommending this site but couldn't find anything anti. I have installed today's screensaver to test things out and all seems good. (The retail for this is $19.95 so I figure if they annoy their customers, they wouldn't be in business for long). A lot of their offers are of no interest to me, but some look like 'musthaves'.

Cheers

Amazingly enough, this seems legit.

Extreme caution is still warranted, though.

I had a look at it a while back and I think the installers are "prepped" to also just work for one day as the "full version" installer. I am not sure if they still work if you had to reinstall windows and where to reinstall using that installer. I ve gone away from using that site.

I checked out the site. It seems legit but I'm not going to try it.

When I went to the site, site advisor flagged it green. However when I viewed the site report there was apparently "4 red downloads"
I checked the tested downloads and they were all flagged green.

I've been using it since I saw rowal's post on it. I personally think it's safe as I scan every file with 2 anti malware and 1 antivirus. So far there indeed were suspicious codes but they were ALL false positives.
The software companies are all legitimate, albeit somewhat unknown. 2 days ago they offered the new Mamutu by Emsi, who is also the maker of a2 Anti-Malware.

The origin of myths is explained in this way." - Bertrand Russell

Today's freebie, StarBurn, retails for $495 so you may want to check it out. About 5 hours left.

I wonder if they give away programs that are well known and respected. Let's say, SUPERAntiSpyware Pro? I could really do with that, real-time protection with that program! I have bookmarked it but will keep in mind what some of you have said.

Mine came up red.

They should have marked it red to begin with.
While this site may give away "free software for a day" some of it could be foistware. Just a thought

Well, the screensavers, I am giving it a thumbs down because I have had a bad experience from getting screensavers off the web.
