Its an XP Home computer with broadband internet, the problem is that it won't show yahoo.com. It seems to go through the motions of loading the page but then just displays a blank screen, no error message, nothing at all. However it doesn't have this problem with any other website, just yahoo.com, any ideas?

QUOTE
Grinler, your help is priceless but I still can't access search engines. Now, instead of the blue screen, I get a "server cannot be found" message. I can get to all other sites I've tried. Help!

When spyware rewrites your HOSTS file getting to common websites such as Yahoo and Google becomes impossible (unless you know the IP address). This is simply a tool to reset HOSTS back to Windows original. If this line is in HOSTS:
66.250.74.150 google.com
When you type google.com in your browser you will be taken to coolwebsearch.com (which is NOT cool mad.gif ) Hope that helps a little.

Downloaded this. Sounds like a great "Band Aide" to quote another. However, I run it and get na error that says file path not found. Anyone know why?

Concern:

I have network connections listed in my host file that are needed as references for other programs. Is this program going to wipe those out?

Even if I can't use it, it's a briliant idea.

Thx,
Dave thumbup.gif

Because i have the same prob with Win 2K, I think its cause the system root is named different in 2K its Winnt, and in XP its Windows.

Unfortunately it was written on Windows XP for XP.Since i'm a Linux user XP
was all i had access to at the time i coded that program.
And yes it will wipe out any existing hosts you already have in there.
I wrote it to be "quick and dirty" to regain a hijacked HOSTS file when sites like Yahoo and Google will not resolve properly.
Maybe in the near future i will add a new OS detection routine and code it for other Windows systems. If there's enough need for it.
